Homogenizing Agent HM400
Mixture of dark aromatic hydrocarbon resins
Homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 improves the homogeneity of elastomers of different polarity and viscosity. It is rapidly absorbed by the polymers during the mixing cycle. A relatively low viscosity mass is quickly achieved into which other compounding ingredients can easily be incorporated.
Homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 is particularly effective with those elastomer blends, which tend to crumble at the beginning of the mixing cycle. The softening viscous resins wet the surface of the crumbs promoting the formation of a compact mass.
The reduction of compound viscosity and "nerve" achieved with homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 assist further processing. For instance, bagging tendency can be reduced, extrusion rates are increased without increasing the die swell, and calendering properties are improved. These benefits are retained even after long storage periods of the green compounds.
Homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 increases the green tack of many compounds although strictly they are not tackifiers. They do, however, boost the efficiency of other tackifying agents.
Homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 does not harden during vulcanization. The hardness of the vulcanizate is not reduced as much as when using, for example, mineral oil plasticizers.
Because of its color, homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 is not suitable for light colored compounds. Staining may occur under certain conditions.
In most cases, homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 is added to the polymers within the mixing cycle. Homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 has good solubility in aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
The reference dosage is 4-15 phr.
25 kg. PP bags or kraft paper bags.
Homogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 presents a risk of solidifying, which increases in hot weather. Therefore, we recommend: Storage in a cool (25 degree Celsius max), ventilated area, out of the sunlight; Do not double stack since the additional pressure will cause storage stability problems; Avoid storage for prolonged period. Due to low softening point, serious solidifying of product may occur when exposed to elevated temperatures. Customer accepts the responsibility for using solidified material.
Hhomogenizing agent Super-mix HM400 is inert and stable. It shelf life mainly depends on the storage conditions and end use. Their average shelf life is typically at least 2 years. This average shelf life is given without Rayton's guarantee because Rayton does not control end uses and the storage conditions at customers.
